Brian makes kittens and dancing look manly ([info]driftingthrough) wrote,

A little observation from your neighborhood friendly bouncer:

Ladies. I know that Halloween is a chance for you all to dress up in things that you normally wouldn't. I'm speaking in particular to those who choose to go with the "less is more" philosophy, if you catch my drift. And while I'm currently enjoying the scenery, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but, I really think you lasses need to think about what you're doing. This isn't the Dance Hall. Not there's anything wrong with the Dance Hall, just saying, this isn't the place. And wearing something where you're showing everyone your gee, unintentional or not, it's not sexy. It makes me want to give you my sweater and tell you to go home before you get yourself in trouble.

And maybe it's the fact that most of our homework as of late for one of my classes seems to be on sexual harassment, or maybe it's because grandmam would kill me if I was anything less than a gentlemen on the subject. But flashing your diddles and gees, isn't going to help the general male population, if you get me. We're a very disgusting gender, and we can't help it. We're programed that way. And I'd like to keep our rape free record in tact, thanks. It's just better for everyone if you just mull that over. Please and thank you.

Oh. And for the love of everything good in this world, please wear some damn underwear.

Oh the perks of being a MERMAID! And me...I suppose the perks of being me.

But thank-you for this service announcement Brian, your intentions are very sweet! Though I don't fully agree with all of the wording, it is very true that everyone should take the extra precaution and be safe this Hallowe'en!

Also it should be noted that mermaids do not wear underwear silly, for they don't have any legs!

But those little sea shell bras, careful Ellie. Ha. Though, I do give you massive credit for picking something normal, yes fun this year.

You're welcome. I'm just...just trying to prevent any unpleasantness. I've got some buddies with some horror stories from nights like tonight. And not the fun horror stories. Oh really? What are you not agreeing with? Just for curiosity's sake.

It is noted that mermaids do not wear underwear because they do not have legs. And I withdraw the part of that comment that pertains to mermaids.

Well I couldn't pass up the idea! Though I am already missing my boots. I have no idea how mermaids live without boots.

Yeah, I know what you meant. I'm more concerned with someone reading this and misinterpreting as if you were saying that if they do not cover up then they could be asking for it. It's a very touchy subject to some. No pun intended though I see it there. I can see how it can be interpreted as a double standard.

Thank-you. If I could try I would, I promise you that, but honestly it would just end up being an awkward looking skirt. Albeit a cute awkward looking skirt.

Well, how would they know what boots were in the first place, if the were born with a tail?

Okay, that makes sense. I can see where if someone were a little more sensitive, or reading it another way, they could gather that. Yeah, sadly enough, that conversation seems to be one of those ones with a never ending debate. Ha, punny Eloise is punny. Double standards suck no matter which end your on of them.

Welcome. Maybe you should skip the awkward skirt? As you've already, no doubt, gone all out on your costume this year?

...There is so much sadness in my heart for these creatures now. So ignorant. So tragic.

I blame my father for the acknowledgement of the unintentional pun. He warped my mind at a young age...I just never stood a chance, you know? But yeah BOOOOO on the double standard front! Just think of the number of lads that you KNOW will be running around Commando, if not completely stark! Hallowe'en and weddings bring out the streakers.

Are you giving me permission to not wear panties, Brian McLaggen? My oh my!

Granted, my knowledge of mermaids goes about as far as the painting of the mermaid that was in the Prefect's bathroom (who always was giggly whenever I was in there...it was...it was.), but I'm thinking maybe they know some stuff that we might never know?

I understand completely. I blame my father for quite a few of my habits actually. Parents, we just never had a chance did we? AH! I didn't even want to think about that! I'd almost forgotten about last years streakers....

What? I uh? Wait...did I? guess I did. You know, because the tail kind of covers all?

Oh Mister McLaggen. Such wise words. I, for one, will be rethinking next years Halloween costume!

I do try. Though, I think it just means that I'm getting old. But I'm glad that I seem to have had some sort of effect.
